3.1 CMS Data Source
The Calculator uses publicly available data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), including:
- RVU values from the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS)
- Geographic Practice Cost Indices (GPCI) by locality
- Conversion Factors (CF) published by CMS
- CPT and HCPCS code descriptors (original, non-AMA descriptions)
3.2 No Guarantee of Accuracy
While we strive to maintain accurate and current data:
- Data May Be Outdated: CMS updates RVU values, GPCI, and CF annually (and sometimes mid-year). Our database may not reflect the most current values.
- Data Entry Errors: Errors may occur during data import or processing.

- Rounding Differences: Display rounding may differ from official CMS calculations.

10. HIPAA and PHI Notice
DO NOT ENTER PROTECTED HEALTH INFORMATION (PHI) INTO THE CALCULATOR.

11. Specific Calculation Limitations
11.1 RVU Component Limitations
The Calculator provides RVU breakdowns (Work RVU, Practice Expense RVU, Malpractice RVU), but:
- Non-facility vs. facility PE RVU selection may not always be accurate
- Some codes have complex RVU structures not fully represented
- Global period considerations are not included
- Surgical assist RVU calculations may be simplified
11.2 GPCI Limitations
